We begin by listening to understand your purpose and vision for the family and the business, and then work with you to overcome the challenges you face. Our founder, Charlie Carr, has advised family businesses and family offices for over 20 years, along the way founding the family enterprise advisory practice at two of the Big 4 accounting firms.

Charlie Carr

Founder

Charlie founded Big Canyon Advisors in 2020 after nearly 20 years of working with family businesses and family offices. Previously, he founded the family enterprise consulting practices at both Ernst & Young and PricewaterhouseCoopers, providing solutions for families, their family businesses and their family offices.

 

Charlie has worked in professional services for over 30 years, as a consultant, banker and wealth advisor. He has worked exclusively with very wealthy families, their businesses and their family offices for more than 25 years.


He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Management from Baylor University and is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNER®.


Charlie coached youth baseball for 15 years and has developed and taught a personal finance class for high school students. He and his wife (Melanie) have 3 sons (and two grandsons!) and live in Flower Mound, Texas.

Melanie Carr

Family Advisor

Melanie Carr is a family advisor with Big Canyon Advisors, LLC and has supported wealthy families, their businesses and family offices for over ten years.


She is a certified Working Genius® facilitator, helping teams boost morale and productivity. Melanie also runs Lamplighter Web Solutions, which supports businesses by creating websites and managing their online presence.


For 20 years, she has served as president of the Bakers Branch Estates Homeowners’ Association. She homeschooled her three children and enjoys serving the community in various volunteer positions.
